At the de Young Museum in San Francisco, artwork by Abstract Expressionist and Bay Area Figurative Movement artist Richard Diebenkorn will be on display till September 29th.
Diebenkorn, who in 1993 died at the age of 70 from complications of emphysema, is best known for his Ocean Park series of color field paintings which is a beautiful marriage of abstract expressionism, color field painting and lyrical abstraction.
His painting 'Ocean Park #48' has been listed as one of the 10 most expensive paintings that have sold at Christie's record-breaking Contemporary Art auction back in Fall 2012.
I might have to take the boyfriend on a little trip to the City this weekend!
